The collaboration between StudioLandt and The Mill came about with ease, sparked by a shared respect for craft, authenticity, and storytelling through design. With Weylandts’ roots in Namibia and a natural synergy between the two sister-led brands, the partnership felt inevitable.
An opportunity to create something tactile, meaningful, and deeply connected to place.
As with many of our projects, the design journey began with a trip to the land itself. In Namibia, we immersed ourselves in the landscape, the culture, and the entire process behind Swakara wool – from its sourcing to the spinning of threads, and finally into the hands of artisans whose skill transforms it into something extraordinary.
This respect for the material guided our vision: to let the wool’s story shine through design.
While sipping a G&T on the red dunes at sundown, our inspiration reached beyond the material to the remarkable sociable weaver nests found across Namibia’s arid landscapes. These vast, intricate structures embody community, resilience, and craft – values that mirror both brands’ design ethos.
From the nests’ layered textures and organic forms to the wool’s natural depth and warmth, the collection carries forward a dialogue between nature, heritage, and the human hand.
From nest to loom, every thread honours place, process, and craft.
This is only the beginning. Follow along as we bring the collection to life.
