A collection born from hands and place.
Field Notes was an opportunity to do something we rarely make space for
– to showcase our handcrafted custom product design as its own thing. This kind of work usually lives within a larger architectural or interior scheme, supporting a vision. Presenting it as a cohesive collection meant stepping back and asking the pieces to speak for themselves.
Removed from the context of a room,
they revealed something we hadn’t quite seen before: a design language rooted entirely in material, touch, and the memory of making.
The journey that shaped the collection took us to Stampriet, Namibia, we sat with the artisans, learned the weaving process firsthand, and worked Swakara wool from fibre to finished piece alongside the people who have spent their lives doing exactly this.
The pieces reflected something true about how we design:
slowly, materially, collaboratively. Working with Weylandts made that even more meaningful. Their appreciation for craft and quality meant we never had to translate our intentions – they were already understood. That kind of alignment is rare, and this project was both creatively fulfilling and deeply affirming for StudioLandt.
What emerged is more than a series of objects. It is a record of place, people.
